GE Shovelnose

GE built 11 narrow gauge diesel locomotives (numbered 90 through 100) for the White Pass and Yukon Railway in batches between 1954 and 1966, calling them C-C 162/162-6GHM842. They are commonly known today as "Shovelnoses" for their distinctive round angle face, not unlike the backside of a shovel.

The units were known by many names. Some called them the 90 class (after their first unit, number 90), while others refer to them by their parts catalog's name (GEX-3341). Of the 11 built, one (100) was scrapped following an aborted rebuild, while the rest remain in storage on the White Pass.

My model represents all 11 of the locomotives as they were built by GE, as well as the extra modifications done to them by their owner White Pass. Also included are various fictional options based on other shovelnose locomotives exported to other parts of the world, such as a flat plow and removal of the heating duct equipment over the radiator fan. Included as well are some fictional extra options that were not possible from the factory but were requested by the developers.

I made this model using drawings and technical databooks for various other locomotives similar to it. It was textured in Substance 3D Painter. This model was made for Studio 346's Century of Steam.
